If you need website self-sufficiency or an experienced web content writer with SEO chops, you’ve come the the right place.

I began a journal writing habit when I was 8 years old. And, surprise! When the Internet produced this wonderful thing called blogging, I replaced my pen and notebook with a keyboard and monitor. In 2005, I threw myself into blogging, setting up websites and using e-newsletter campaigns to promote my small handmade goods enterprise.
A Major Turning Point
At the time, I was making and selling jewelry. Later I began work as a newspaper reporter, which I loved. Getting to talk to people, hear their stories and translate them into a narrative was amazing. But after the economy tanked, and I was laid off in 2008, I made up my mind to finally grow a business that would give me freedom to work whenever, wherever and with whomever I please.
Even though I went back to work for the paper several months later, from Day One I started searching for another way to pay my bills that would give me that freedom. It also had to be in line with my values — to somehow make a difference for people without leaving a scar on the environment. So it’s pretty darn lucky that I had spent years and hundreds of hours honing skills in writing and using online business tools, including WordPress websites, business blogging, search engine optimization (SEO) and e-newsletter campaigns.
What I Do Now
Today, I teach non-techie small business owners how to develop their own online presence, so they can have the kind of meaningful work and freedom I hold in high regard for myself. Think of me as a website setup trainer and consultant. I’m also a web content writer, creating SEO web content for those who prefer to outsource and/ or for people who feel their writing skills are lacking.
Who I Help
- Business owners who are comfortable with technology but aren’t familiar with website setup. They want web self-sufficiency and don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on website creation. Instead, I teach them how to set up and update their website, so they can have total control of their online presence.
- Business owners who aren’t comfortable with technology. They want a better website but don’t know how to get started. I give them basic, easy to understand video tutorials and consultations so they can set up their own professional, fully functional business website. After they take this course, they can either learn more about updating their site, or they can hire me or someone else to do it when the need strikes.
- Business owners and nonprofits who need an experienced writer with SEO chops. I’m an Associated Press award winning writer, former newspaper reporter and magazine editor. I’ve also done freelance writing for artists and small business owners, as well as for the high-profile websites Livestrong and eHow.
Today, I’m not only a teacher, but also an avid practitioner and student of online presence, reading up to three books a month and regularly attending seminars, workshops and focus groups. Connect with me by commenting on my blog, or join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter. I’ll see you there!
